I was out shopping for beauty supplies the other day when I came across the Maybelline Clear Smooth all -in-one powder at one of the House of Tara outlets in Lagos. I had never used any Maybelline products before but as soon as I saw all what this powder claims to accomplish, I decided to give it a try. According to Maybelline, the powder;

Controls shine
Conceals flaws
Perfects tone
SPF 25/ PA++

Sounds like perfection right? Exactly. Anyway, I’ve been using it for a while now so I figured it’s high time I did a review for you guys.

The very first thing that caught my fancy about this product was the unique packaging. It comes in a sturdy light pink case complete with mirror and a small soft sponge. It is a far cry from the dark coloured ones we get from most brands. I think the pink case is not only beautiful but very feminine too. Not to mention that it is also very slim and super light. Perfect for on-the-go.

The amazing thing about the clear smooth powder is that it actually achieves all it promises to. I’ve used it with and without foundation and the finish is impeccable. It is very easy to apply as it blends easily to give a smooth, natural oil-free look that lasts up to four hours for me (PS I have an oily skin). I don’t even have to reapply most times. Also, I absolutely love that it has a good smell and doesn’t clog my pores or cause any breakouts.

My only grouch with it is the quantity. It is quite small (looks almost like a sample product lol). With everyday use, you should hit pan bottom in about 3-4 weeks.

On a scale of 10, this product scores an 8! I’m impressed and I look forward to trying out other Maybelline products in the nearest future.
The powder comes in 6 different shades from lightest to darkest; Toffee, Caramel, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Mocha & Cocoa. It retails at House of Tara outlets nationwide for a price of 2000 naira.

You’ve heard my thoughts, now let me hear yours. Have you tried it? What was your shade? If you haven’t, are you willing to give it a try?

    1. Hey Zainab! I use the Cacao shade. It’s the darkest shade available. It’s advisable to get a shade testing first before purchasing. So maybe you should consider buying from a beauty store instead.

  1. I love what you guys are up too. This type of clever
    work and exposure! Keep up the wonderful works guys I’ve included you guys to my blogroll.

  2. I just got mine yesterday at Maybelline store in Surulere but the issue is the expiry date. The expiry date is August 2016.The sale representative told me that it takes 5 years to expire (production date was in 2013) and that expiry date is there because of NAFDAC insisted the product must have.
