If you live in Lagos like me, I’m sure you can testify that this heat no be here! The sun has finally decided to show us who’s indeed the hottest of them all. Lol. Jokes apart, the weather has been unbearably hot and to make matters worse, PHCN has decided to take some form of vacation for reasons best known to them. *sigh

Anyways back to my post, while this change in weather may attempt to throw your skin off balance, there’s no need to panic. Today, I’ll be sharing with you guys my top 5 tips that will help you keep your skin flawless, glowing and beautiful as always even during this period of scorching heat.

1. Cleanse
It’s very important to clean your face at least twice a day (morning and night preferably) to remove makeup, dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and other types of pollutants from the skin of the face. Cleansers also help to unclog pores and prevent skin conditions like acne. You can also make use of a face sponge or cloth to enhance exfoliation but make sure you wash it everyday or better still use a disposable one.

2. Tone
For many years, I didn’t use a toner in my beauty regimen simply because I didn’t see the need. But I soon realised that something was missing. Toners, also called astringents, works basically to remove stubborn dirt, seal pores and prevent skin blemishes. They are usually used after a cleanser.

3. Moisturise
Contrary to what most people think, hot weather is not an excuse to skip moisturiser. Instead, switch to a water-based moisturiser that is weightless and easily absorbed into the skin. If you’re not sure if it’s water-based, check the ingredients list for whether it contains water or aqua. Another important feature to look for is whether the moisturiser contains sunscreen (ie SPF) to protect you from the harsh rays of the sun.

4. Skip face makeup
Well except it’s absolutely necessary, this is not the time for wearing layers and layers of face makeup. Foundations and concealers are a big no-no this season as they clog pores and also oxidise into the skin making it look generally unhealthy. Opt for less oil-containing products like tinted moisturiser or bb creams.

5. Drink more water
Though it seems odd on this list, it’s actually really important to consciously take more water during this hot season. With a lot of sweating going on, we need to replenish our lost body fluids and prevent dehydration which doesn’t look good on the skin at all.
